谣言粉碎所谓谣言：天才就是1%的天赋+99%的汗水。——爱迪生
所谓谣言粉碎：天才就是1%的天赋+99%的汗水。想必这会儿还有很多小学挂着这些名言吧。但原话是‘天才就是99%的汗水+1%的灵感，但没有这1%的灵感那99%的汗水也是徒劳’。爱迪生搞发明的的真实感受啊。
对于谣言粉碎的粉碎：在Harper's Monthly (September 1932)发布的关于爱迪生的文可以说是第一次说爱迪生说了Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.这句话，没有下半句。一般认为这句话提炼自1929的一次发布会，在发布会中爱迪生说了None of my inventions came by accident. I see a worthwhile need to be met and I make trial after trial until it comes. What it boils down to is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration.依旧没有下半句，而且很明显他在说的是勤奋的作用。另外一次他说的版本是："Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration. Accordingly, a 'genius' is often merely a talented person who has done all of his or her homework."依旧是在说勤奋的作用。爱迪生本人就从来没有说过类似于但没有“这1%的灵感那99%的汗水也是徒劳这样的下半句。”
那么那经典的所谓下半句来自哪里呢？来自这里：Thomas Edison said “Genius is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”Without the one percent of inspiration, all the perspiration in the world is only a bucket of sweat. So where do writer s find that all-important inspiration? 而这里的Without the one percent of inspiration, all the perspiration in the world is only a bucket of sweat.是作家Cindi Myers自己对于爱迪生的敬仰的发挥，不是爱迪生自己所说，随后在翻译中估计出了些小错误，然后……然后大家都知道了。其实我一直觉得以中国编谣言者的智商是编不出“没有这1%的灵感那99%的汗水也是徒劳这样美丽的句子的。”
最后，对于怎么理解 “Genius is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”和怎么理解Without the one percent of inspiration, all the perspiration in the world is only a bucket of sweat.是每个人自己的事情，一句话并不因为爱迪生说了而变得有道理，也不因为不是爱迪生说的才变得没道理，尽信书不如无书，我觉得什么话都要付会在名人身上找存在感才是很可笑的。
